My Visit to Baburhat, Shekherchar — Bangladesh’s Largest Traditional Textile Market.

As a Local Guide who loves exploring authentic places, visiting Baburhat, Shekherchar in Narsingdi was an unforgettable experience for me. Known as one of the largest wholesale cloth markets in Bangladesh, this place is not just a shopping destination — it is a living symbol of the country’s rich weaving tradition and grassroots economy. 🚗 First Impressions Located beside the Dhaka–Sylhet Highway and along the Old Brahmaputra River, the market is easy to reach but incredibly busy. I arrived early in the morning, and even then, the area was already crowded with traders, transport vehicles, and buyers from different parts of the country. What struck me first was the sheer scale of the market. নরসিংদীতে লটকনের রাজধানীতে একদিন । Haven of Lotkon Fruit.

  টক - মিষ্টি স্বাদের দারুন এক ফল লটকন । নরসিংদী জেলার মরজালের বিভিন্ন গ্রামে হয় লটকনের চাষ । আষাঢ় মাসের এক বিকেলে তেমন একটি লটকন বাগানে যাওয়ার সৌভাগ্য হয় । সেই গল্প আপনাদের সাথে শেয়ার করবো আজ । শুক্রবার ছুটির দিন থাকায় ঠিক হয় বিকেলে ঠিক হয় লটকন বাগানে ঘুরতে যাওয়ার । নরসিংদী শহর থেকে প্রায় ২০-২৫ কিলোমিটার হলো মরজলের দূরত্ব । আমরা মটর সাইকেল নিয়ে রওনা দেই । মরজালের রাস্তাগুলো ছিল অনেক সুন্দর , দুপাশের সবুজের বুক চিরে ছুটে চলা ছিল সত্যিই নান্দনিক। লটকন বাগানে এসেতো আমরা সবাই অবাক , এ এক অন্যরকম জায়গা যেখানে শুধু লটকনের রাজত্ব। গাছের মাথা থেকে গোরা পর্যন্ত শুধু লটকন আর লটকন।  লটকন মূলত একটি মৌসুমী ফল যা বর্ষা কালে হয়। আষাঢ় মাসে প্রায় সব গাছেই লটকন পেকে যায় । লটকনের স্বাদ অনেকটা টক মিষ্টি। একটি গাছ থেকে সিজনে প্রায় দুই থেকে তিন মন লটকন হয়। এক মন লটকন সময় ভেদে তিন থেকে চার হাজার টাকা বিক্রি হয় । আপনার কেউ আসলে ঢাকা থেকে নরসিংদী চলে আসবেন । নরসিংদী থেকে মরজাল গেলে সেখানে একটু ভিতরের দিকে দিকে প্রায় সব গ্রামেই লটকন বাগান আছে ।
